A very enjoyable Christmas Day lunch was held again in our parish this year: some 40 meals were served. A big thank you to our chef, Mark for cooking a delicious meal, and to everyone involved in publicising the lunch, donating desserts, buying food and drink, setting up the hall, organising and giving lifts, and serving and clearing away. We are grateful to our friends from St Albans Cathedral for joining in and helping as waiters and for playing the piano to lead the singing. A good time was had by all!

Thank you to everyone involved in making Carols by Candlelight such an inspiring and uplifting point on our journey to Christmas. A special thanks to Jacquie and Tim for organising the event. The church, with its crib and Christmas tree, and adorned with lanterns, looked beautiful on the evening, and the lovely music and singing engaged us all in the blessings of Christmas.

The talks were developed by Brian to try and answer some of the questions that Protestants have about the role of Mary in our Catholic faith. With many references to scripture in both the Old and New Testaments, our speaker helped us to see how they would have been understood by the early Jewish people and the early Christians. The talks were well attended and included visitors from other Parishes. A useful handout was provided for each of the talks.
