Unveiling the Mother of the Messiah – The Jewish Roots of Mary – Advent 2019

A series of 4 talks was given by Brian Purfield, a member of the Mount Street, Jesuit Team. The themes chosen for the talks were:

The New Eve
The Queen Mother
The Mother of the Messiah
The New Rachel

The talks were developed by Brian to try and answer some of the questions that Protestants have about the role of Mary in our Catholic faith. With many references to scripture in both the Old and New Testaments, our speaker helped us to see how they would have been understood by the early Jewish people and the early Christians. The talks were well attended and included visitors from other Parishes. A useful handout was provided for each of the talks.
